Vacation

Going overseas for vacation formed a significant part of Kenneth's and Eileen's lives. Living in an island called Singapore, through overseas travel, they realized that their view of life expanded and they learnt a lot about life, culture and people.

Now that they have children, traveling became even more important because they strongly believe that children benefited the most from these trips. In fact, Kenneth and Eileen set aside significant amount of resources to ensure that Kendrick and Karis travel for vacation as part of their growing up experiences.

Indonesia

Destination 1 - Bali, Indonesia

Cost:	This is a 4 day 3 night trip which was about S$1,000.
Date:	July 05.

Day 1 :	Arrived in the evening and checked in our beautiful 5 star resort.
Day 2 :	We joined a day tour and went to the paddy field and live volcano. We had our lunch at a restaurant on top of a hill overseeing the volcano. Along the way we visited many souvenir shops where wooden carvings or metallic accessories were made.
Day 3 :	We spent the morning at the resort private beach and noticed a huge tree where lots of squirrels lived on it. After lunch, we checked out from the resort and transferred to another hotel along the famous Kuta beach where all the activities were. We checked in around the late afternoon and spent the night visiting the souvenir shops along the streets. We also visited the site where the bomb blast took place a few years back.
Day 4 :	In the morning, we visited the beach where the annual national wind surfing competition took place. The gradient of the beach was very gentle and we could walk kilometers towards the ocean. The wave was fun to play with that morning while we were there. Eileen had her manicure along the beach by one of the locals. In the afternoon, we proceeded to the swimming pool for our afternoon relaxation. The uniqueness of this swimming pool is that the floor was filled with sand just like the beach across the road. In the evening, we had our dinner at the nearby restaurant and stroll along the streets and searched for good bargains.
Day 5 :	After breakfast, we paid our last visit to the beach and return to the hotel to pack our stuff. While I looked after the children, Eileen went to the streets to do her last minute shopping. After lunch, we proceeded to the airport. It was a fun and enjoyable trip for all of us and we looked forward to visiting the island again.

Destination 2 - Batam Island

Cost:	Long weekend at approximately S$100 per person.
Date:	Sunday to Monday (June 96).

Destination 3 - Bintan Island

Cost:	A five star spa resort with our own cottage for about S$1,000.
Date:	4 days in January 98.

Day 1 :	Arrived at 10 am but checked in only at 1 pm. When the rest of the day in our own cottage with our own spa pool. We had buffet dinner that night.
Day 2 :	We went canoeing in the morning and spent the rest of the day exploring the resort.
Day 3 :	We had one spa treatment and spent the rest of the day relaxing in our room.
Day 4 :	Departed for Singapore. It was a nice and relaxing trip.

Destination 4 - Jakarta

Cost:	Spa resorts two hours drive from Suharto International Airport. It costs S$1,000 per person for all spa treatments, spa meals, clothing and transport.
Date:	4 days 3 nights in January 97.

Day 1 :	Arrived at resort in time for our spa lunch. Very cool weather with afternoon rain. Spent the afternoon attending aerobics classes cum spa treatments. There are no phones or TV (only at dining room) in our rooms. We slept at 8 pm because we were totally exhausted very tiring.
Day 2 :	We participated in the jungle trek to the waterfall at 6.30 am. I dive into the waterfall, which was very refreshing. The rest of the days are spent on exercises and spa treatments.
Day 3 :	Just like day 2.
Day 4 :	Departed at about 2 pm after lunch. It was the most memorable trip for us.
